Cat & Seek

A deduction puzzle, not a reflex test

Find every cat.
Never let two touch.

Cat & Seek gives you a grid of coloured patches and asks for one cat in every row, every column and every patch — with no two cats side by side or corner to corner. There is no timer and no score. There is only the moment the last square resolves and the whole board falls into place.

A solved board. Every row, every column, every colour — exactly one cat, and none of them touching.

Three rules. That is the whole game.

You learn them in about ten seconds. You spend the next hundred levels finding out what they imply.

  1. 1

One cat in every row and every column

Six rows, six columns, six cats. Every row gets exactly one and so does every column.

  2. 2

One cat in every coloured patch

The board is divided into coloured regions. Each one holds exactly one cat — that is the constraint the rows and columns cannot give you.

  3. 3

    No two cats may touch

Not side by side, not corner to corner. A cat rules out all eight squares around it, which is where most of the deduction comes from.

Not allowed — these two touch at a corner
Fine — a gap in every direction

Why it feels the way it does

No timer. No score.

Nothing counts down and nothing ranks you. A level waits exactly as long as you need, and thinking for two minutes costs you nothing.

Two lives, and they matter

You get two wrong placements. That is enough to test an idea, and few enough that you check it first. The pressure is deduction, not speed.

One a day is a streak

Clear a level and the day is marked. Come back tomorrow and it grows. That is the whole loop — no daily quests, no energy meter, nothing to log in for except the puzzle.
